Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday told the citizens of Delhi, “I love you”, and thanked them profusely for their support, with the crowd outside Aam Aadmi Party office in Delhi cheering him on to mark the party’s spectacular victory in the assembly elections.

Delhi’s Rajya Sabha elections were held on 8 February 2020, witnessing the Aam Aadmi Party scoring a stunning victory and once again retaining power in Delhi. It won 62 of the 70 assembly seats, leaving the BJP with just 8 seats. In 2015, AAP had won 67 seats.
Voter turnout this year was recorded at 62.59% out of over 1.4 crore eligible voters. It saw a decline of 4.88% from the previous assembly elections in Delhi.

AAP's victory came on the back of uniform support for the party, bipolarity math against BJP and AAP’s campaign marked by shrillness which dashed BJP's hopes to form government in the capital. Several factors contributed to the majority being obtained by AAP including their efforts in their past term in Delhi.

We at FIC conducted a poll on our Instagram page asking people their preference as to who do they think will win the Delhi Elections and its result was as follows: 83% of the people voted for AAP and remaining 17% voted for BJP.
Exit Polls
The exit poll results conducted by almost all agencies for Delhi assembly elections 2020 had predicted a clean sweep for Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party. The exit polls were announced by agencies after the poll ended on 8 February 2020.

AAP’s victory margins show that it wasn’t a close contest and now AAP heads to another renewed term of five years, with a set of newer, younger leaders and new promises. For this term the focus of the government will be on clean water, cleanliness, and tackling pollution. The actual seats won by AAP were more than the ones estimated by several or almost all organisations or agencies. AAP’s hardwork and the other two parties’ failure at making a mark in the city helped AAP register a win on such a huge margin. It can be rightly said that AAP’s reality was much better than the expectations kept by them.
